TRAINEE ACCOUNTANTS PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE FRAMEWORK (TAPEF) TRAINING (Free of Charge)

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) is a member of the Pan-African Federation of Accountants (PAFA) and the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the global umbrella body for the accountancy profession.
Being a member of IFAC, ICPAK is guided by Statement of Member of Obligations and other pronouncements issued IFAC. On 1st of July 2015, International Education Standard 5, Initial Professional Development- Practical Experience (IES 5) became effective for implementation by IFAC Member bodies. The Standard prescribes the practical experience required of aspiring professional accountants by the end of Initial Professional Development (IPD). Furthermore, IES 5 recognizes that practical experience is relevant in developing the competence of an aspiring professional accountant. Additionally, it promotes greater flexibility in measuring practical experience; permits practical experience supervisors to direct, advise, and assist an aspiring professional accountant’s experience; and requires practical experience to be recorded in a verifiable and consistent form.
ICPAK and KASNEB came up with the Trainee Accountants Practical Experience Framework (TAPEF) that was piloted in 2016 and improvements made on it in 2017 with 2 Guiding Handbooks to guide the Trainee Accountant and Supervisor (Member of ICPAK in good standing) developed. The Framework was launched during the 34th Annual Seminar in Mombasa and became effective on 3rd of July 2018 for implementation. This is a mandatory requirement that will affect membership admission going forward.
To this end, ICPAK is calling on its members to play the role of Supervisors and guide Trainee Accountants acquire necessary competencies for an aspiring professional accountant. Members playing this role will earn 1.5 CPD Units per month.
The event is free of charge and members in attendance will earn 4 CPD Units. The events take place from 8:00 am – 11:00 am. Attendance is strictly upon booking online for the first 30 delegates bookings per branch.
