Introduction

The C-Suite Seminar is one of ICPAK’s premier events targeting Chief Executives and senior management of both private and public organizations to hone their skills in the fast changing global business environment. The 2nd C-Suite seminar aims at enabling delegates attune to the dynamics of competitively managing a contemporary business organisation. The seminar is enriched by a combination of seminars and industrial visits as modes of learning. The C-Suite avails participants a good opportunity to network and share their experiences peer to peer and hence improve their leadership skills.

About the theme and host country – Turkey

Corporations today are compelled by technology and social dynamics to face infinite competitors and potential customers drawn from all over the world.  Corporate strategy in essence must be in synch with global business dynamics otherwise the corporation will perish. Operating a business and doing so successfully requires modern corporations borrow from each other across national, regional and international boundaries.

Turkey is among the world’s leading producers of agricultural products, textiles, motor vehicles, ships and other transportation equipment and construction materials. It hosts the world’s largest producers of consumer electronics and home appliances.  Delegates attending the 2nd C- Suite will have opportunity to learn how a contemporary corporation would strategize for global competitiveness.

Topics:

The following topics have been selected for the 2nd C-Suite Seminar

Competing in the open market

Over time barriers in accessing markets have been coming down to the extent customers have a world of choice. Corporations must evaluate and address International SWOT, trade across cultures and nationalities, embrace e-commerce.  Delegates will learn how to prepare themselves, their products and their organisation to compete in the open market.

Positioning for the export market

It is not enough to produce a world class product; you need to attract and retain a world of customers to ensure sustainability. The strategies to place an organisation and a product on a global arena will be discussed with practical examples.  It is planned that participants will learn to position their organisations for the export market.

Government Support in enhancing business environment

In supporting business for global competitiveness there is a fine line on theory (what the government ought to do) and the practice (what the government has done). This topic is aimed at drawing from the Turkish experience.  Seminar participants will appreciate the role that the Turkish regime has played in making textile industry a resounding success. Some of the lessons may find expression in policy interventions by the Kenyan government to improve our level of competitiveness.

Sourcing for customers abroad: the Dos and Don’ts;

The decision to go regional and international is a difficult one for many enterprises and for very good reasons.  The topic is aimed to provoke debate and discussion on what works and what does not.  Delegates will appreciate a practical approach in guiding their corporations beyond the national borders.

Corporate Governance in Cross –Cultural Environment

Corporate governance remains a sticky subject but with serious ramifications on a corporation.  The game becomes even trickier where an organisation has to operate in multiple jurisdictions each with a set of demands on what amounts to good corporate governance.

Harnessing Tourism

Turkey as a country and Istanbul as a city have done well in attracting increasing number of tourists many on business visits. A number of strategies are in place to harness tourism revenue from the visitors, strategies that will prove useful as interventions in our metropolis- Nairobi.

Learning from the success of Turkish Textile Industry

A lot has been said about the success of the Turkish Textile industry.  This topic is planned to give participants of the look and feel of what has been done so well that Turkey continues to export clothing to nearly all major cities in the world.  Viewed against the backdrop of a very dismal textile market in Kenya, the topic will shed light on possible interventions.
