CALL FOR PAPERS – THE 4TH ICPAK RESEARCH CONFERENCE 2023
The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya is mandated by the Accountants Act 2008 section 8 (b) to undertake research in topical areas of accountancy and related fields with a view to churning out empirical evidence for policy decision making. The Institute in compliance with this mandate has conducted so far three successful Research Conferences that provided platforms for researchers and different stakeholders to present well researched papers that drew critical lessons and provided pragmatic recommendations on how to deal with some of the most resilient socio-economic and technological challenges within the global sphere. The 4th Research Conference intends to build on this success and further deepen the engagements that lead to practical policy solutions through research.
The conference will provide an important forum for the interaction of different ideas and information between academicians and practitioners, in order to enhance the understanding of how the Accountancy profession can evolve, build resilience, and sustain the growth of the profession and the economy at large in this digital age.
It is against this background that the Institute has organized its fourth Research Conference on the 5th – 7th December 2023 in Nairobi. This year’s theme will be: “Positioning accountancy as a frontier of knowledge and technological transformation in the global space.”
The Institute invites researchers, scholars, policy makers and practitioners with an interest in accounting, tax, enterprise risk management, public finance management, economics and governance to submit abstracts and papers addressing topical issues based on the following thematic areas for oral and or poster presentation at the conference:
- Technology and Innovation
- Accounting and Taxation
- Financial Management
- Micro and Macro Economic Policy, Behavior and Practices
- Enterprise Risk Management
- Governance and Leadership

Financial Commitment:

The cost caters for training fee, training materials, certificate and meals during the conference. Please note that delegates are required to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
Target Audience:
This seminar will be most beneficial to delegates drawn from both the public and private sectors, and particularly young professionals. This seminar is not limited to the accountancy profession only. Staff from other professions are highly encouraged to attend.
Continuous Professional Development Units (CPDs).
Members of ICPAK and those from reciprocating professional bodies will earn 20 Structured CPD points upon successfully attending all learning sessions.
National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Reimbursement
The Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority. The Institute’s registration number is DIT/TRN/47. Participants who are registered levy contributors should apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. Please note that this is applicable for Kenyan citizens only and subject to NITA regulations. Remember that to qualify you should apply to NITA for approval prior to the date of the conference. Further details can be obtained from their website (www.nita.go.ke).
