THE 3rd EAST AFRICAN CEOs ROUNDTABLE
3rd November 2023
Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi
Time: 7.00am to 12.00pm
Theme: Building a lasting brand through strategic execution and agility
OVERVIEW
The CEO is ultimately responsible for the company’s success or failure and oversees its various functions. The CEO is also responsible for promoting the company’s culture by helping to determine the attitudes, behaviours and values that best represent the organization’s mission, modelling those characteristics, ensuring management’s support and recognizing the value and contributions of each employee.
Executives are five times more productive when working as part of a high-performing leadership team than they are when working as part of an average one. Most CEOs agree that the complexities of running an organization, even a small growing one, have increased. Continuing technological innovation and an abundance of real-time information have intensified already increasing pressures from customers, competitors, regulators and other stakeholders. Leading any organization today is clearly a challenging endeavour and way beyond the capacity of any one individual.
A concerted effort must therefore be devoted to building the structural and relational foundation required for leadership teams to thrive. The CEO plays a pivotal role in building this important foundation. Ultimately, when leadership teams have done the heavy lifting and become high performing accelerators for their organizations, the CEO’s role will evolve. On the best leadership teams, the environment shifts to one where the team holds itself accountable and the CEO becomes a contributor, a coach to other team members and the final arbiter of significant decisions.
The round table has been designed to provide an opportunity for CEOs to share experiences and ideas on the various dilemmas and opportunities along with sharing key lessons regarding the key strategic priorities for businesses in the region.
The roundtable is geared to focus on the following key topics:
- Role of CEO in shaping organizational culture.
- Understanding and dealing with imposter syndrome at the executive level.
