OVERVIEW
Tax remains a key source of revenue for financing the government’s planned expenditure lines while delivering service to the citizenry. Over the years, the annual budget has been increasing to cater for delivery of more goods and services to the taxpayer while at the same time leaving a financing gap. This has created the need for a relook into ways of bringing more people into the tax net to try and bridge the financing gap. Consequently, the revenue authority has been keen on ensuring that individuals and organizations are tax compliant by remitting the correct taxes as per the set deadlines. Failure to do so has attracted punitive measures to both individuals and corporates.
Managing tax and other statutory compliance in the current complex business and regulatory environment is no mean feat. The accelerating pace of globalization, changes in accounting standards and new developments in tax laws require professionals to keep in constant touch with these changes, lest their organizations be penalized for non-compliance. With this in mind, organizations are looking for the most cost effective, efficient and more consistent ways of meeting their compliance obligations. It is against this backdrop that ICPAK has organized the 2-day virtual symposium covering areas relating to tax compliance and emerging issues in taxation.
The seminar will cover the following:
- Employee and Corporate Taxes: Obligations and Compliance Requirements
- VAT Compliance
- Withholding Tax Compliance
- Current i-Tax Changes and Emerging Issues
- Tax Evasion and Tax Avoidance
- Mechanisms for Tax Dispute Resolution
- Conducting an Effective Tax Health Check for Organizations
