THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(Established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
Successful setting up of your practice and submitting winning bids Webinar
Date: 21st April 2022
Venue: Webinar
Time: 04.00pm – 06.00pm

OVERVIEW

Over the recent years, there has been a rising need by both private and public sector organizations to engage vendors that are eligible, competent and that have been contracted competitively through outlined procurement processes. GoK through the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) and Public Procurement and Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has been championing for embracing of better procurement practices by public entities. Whilst private institutions procurements are premised on either donor prescribed or self-developed policies, the fundamental procurement principles are synonymous with the Public Procurement Act.

Accountants bidding for tender opportunities have continually been disqualified at the tendering stage because of submitting non-responsive bids. The Procurement laws and regulations are wide and dynamic, and one needs to be up to date with the various statutory requirements. There is a growing need for accountants to professionalise their practices to position themselves for various available opportunities. Even after signing of Circular No.10-2020 on prioritization of pending bills by State Corporations and Semi-autonomous Agencies, one of the challenges that suppliers have perennially faced is delayed payments after delivery of service. This has greatly impacted their cashflows and to some extent threatened sustainability of their businesses.

It is against this background that the Institute has organized an upcoming webinar to provide more insights on the Successful Setting up of Your Practice and Submitting Winning Bids to address all the underlying issues relating to this topic.

The following key topics among others will be discussed in the webinar:

  1. What are the current trends in bidding for jobs?
  2. How to prepare a winning proposal?
  3. What are the procurement methods used in sourcing vendors?
  4. What common mistakes done when bidding for jobs (From a buyer and suppliers point of view)?
  5. How to position your practice for visibility and winning tenders?
  6. How to scout for tenders?
  7. What are the compliance requirements when bidding for jobs?
  8. What are the sources of finances once a tender has been won?
  9. What to look out for at the contract implementation stage?
  10. What are the do’s and don’ts of the wholistic procurement process (From a buyer and suppliers point of view)?
  11. What are the expected ethical practices in the procurement process?
  12. How should accountants leverage on opportunities reserved for youth, women and persons with disabilities?
