OVERVIEW

The role of risk management is to help organizations achieve their objectives in an uncertain world. In 2020 that world was turned upside down as long observed, although perhaps not sufficiently managed, global pandemic – became a live issue.

Risk based thinking needs to be part of the professional accountant mindset and make up. How professional accountants contribute to the effective ERM in their roles within the finance functions, seem to add value as risk experts and provide valuable insights to manage risk in a way that supports their organizations in responding to uncertainty and achieving their objectives.

Organisations find themselves navigating a new reality; addressing issues from crisis response and cyber threats to valuations and financial stress. Business requires taking risks and seizing opportunities to achieve success. The accountant’s primary role in ERM in not solely to mitigate risk, but to promote and facilitate effective risk and opportunity management in support of value creation and preservation over time.

For the future we expect to see a sharper focus on resilience and on strategic risk management. This online seminar will focus attention on ensuring organizations have the people and skills to raise their game to what will be required in ‘the new normal’ and delve on the following:

Transformational Risk Management – (Panel Discussion)
• Risk mitigation in the virtual working environment
• Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) and the Risk Automation Agenda – (Panel Discussion)
