THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SEMINAR FOR MILLENNIALS
Theme: The Boardroom Millennial – Bridging the Divide
Date: 27th – 29th November 2019
Venue: Acacia Premier Hotel – Kisumu
ABOUT THE THEME
While boardrooms may still be skeptical of the efficacy of bringing Millennials into the fray, other areas of business have welcomed them with open arms, and are enjoying the benefits of engaging with this young, dynamic generation. It is to be noted that there are great opportunities for boards to seek younger directors and gain perspectives of a generation that is redefining technology, consumer preferences, business strategy, business models, and even business risks. Having Millennial representation on boards can give businesses a better understanding of what motivates younger employees, within the context of an organization’s own succession practices, allowing them to help strengthen the pipeline of high-performing, up-and-coming employees, and executives.
ABOUT THE SEMINAR
In the year 2017, the Institute embarked on a journey to see that all members, taking into account age and the level of professional experience; have a fair opportunity to learn and network with peers in their circles. The inaugural seminar on professional development for millennials was born then. Now on it’s third year, the seminar continues to bring together participants from different professions from across all the counties. This year’s seminar will have a specific focus on millennials and the boardroom. We shall look at the pros and cons; coupled by many other topical issues around professional development for the younger generation.
The seminar is highly recommended for individuals who have recently assumed managerial responsibilities, high-potential individuals who are candidates for managerial jobs, professionals from a variety of disciplines and most important, those of the average age 35.
Discussion Areas:
- The Missing Perspective in the Boardroom: Millennials
- The Changing Workplace: People, Flexibility and Innovation
- Risk Management and Millennials – Positioning Risk for Growth
