Theme: Making Tax Simpler – Analysis of the Changing Tax Regime
Date: Wednesday 3rd February 2021
Time: 4pm to 6pm
Venue: Online
OVERVIEW
Tax-base expansion is a key strategy for enhancing revenue mobilisation. Globally as countries look inward for local growth options, the government has had to rethink its revenue base to expand it for sustainable domestic resource mobilisation.
In order to expand the tax-base in the country, the government, through the Finance Act 2020, has introduced a raft of new tax measures effective January 2021. Among the taxes lined up for implementation is the minimum tax.
The minimum tax will be payable by business entities that are carrying out business and have physical presence in Kenya. The tax will be payable at a rate of one per cent of the gross sales.
To help address the questions around the minimum tax considerations and the impact of the new measures on entities’ profitability in view of other external factors and the pandemic, the Institute has organized a Webinar to address this critical topic as the reporting cycle starts.
To guide the discussion during the Webinar, the following areas will form the focus of this very important virtual event.
- Overview of the Minimum Tax Regime in Kenya
- Enhancement of compliance by entities in different sectors
