LEADERSHIP AND INTEGRITY CONGRESS
COMMEMORATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY ON 9TH DECEMBER 2021
AT THE KENYA SCHOOL OF GOVERNMENT, NAIROBI
Corruption is an intricate socio-economic and political phenomenon that affects many countries. It weakens democratic institutions, increases the cost of doing business, slows economic development and contributes to governmental instability. The detrimental and draining effects of corruption have negatively affected the realization of Kenya’s development goals including the attainment of Vision 2030.
According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the government of Kenya loses one third of the national budget to corruption. Further, the Auditor General and Controller of Budget Reports have continuously pointed out lapses in accountability of public resources including but not limited to; Failure to align Budget Reallocation to Actual Performance; Inadequacies in accounting for Cash and Cash Equivalents, huge pending bills and management of imprests.
It is against the foregoing that the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in partnership with Kenya School of Government, National Cohesion and Integration Commission, Transparency International- Kenya and Amnesty International- Kenya have organized a Leadership and Integrity Congress 2021 themed, “Restoring Trust, Reviving Kenya’s Economy” to be held on Thursday 9th December 2021 at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete, Nairobi, starting at 8:00am – 5:00pm.
Target Groups
The event will bring together National Government officials, Commissions, and independent offices, professional associations, Non-State Actors and the media to discuss the state of accountability and governance in the run-up to the next General elections.
