Overview of the Seminar

This seminar aims to improve the quality of general purpose financial reporting by public sector entities, leading to better informed assessments of the resource allocation decisions made by governments, thereby increasing transparency and accountability. The seminar will be a refresher on reporting standards of the above target audience and also provide guidance on compliance

  • The seminar will enable you understand the current requirements for presentation of accrual-based and cash based IPSAS financial statements and related disclosures

  • Understand the accrual accounting concepts, as well as key IPSAS recognition, measurement, presentation and disclosure requirements,
  • Improve overall management and planning via the application of more precise estimates of income and expenditure and effective usage of assets and liabilities
  • Understand the strategic implications of IPSAS adoption,
  • Assess the impact of the application of IPSAS on your organisation,
  • Understand the practical implications and challenges of an IPSAS conversion project,
  • Implement and apply IPSAS in practice, drawing from best implementation practices learned during the course.

IPSAS 9 establishes requirements for the accounting treatment of revenue from exchange transactions.

Presentation of financial statements

 

To set out the manner in which general-purpose financial statements shall be prepared under the accrual basis of accounting, including guidance for their structure and the minimum requirements for content.

5.0 National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Reimbursement

The Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority. The Institute’s registration number is DIT/TRN/47. Participants who are registered levy contributors should apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. Please note that this is applicable for Kenyan citizens only and subject to NITA regulations. Remember that to qualify you should apply to NITA for approval prior to the date of the conference. Further details can be obtained from their website (www.nita.go.ke).
