INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(established under cap 531 of the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
Financial Reporting Seminar for Saccos & Cooperative Societies
Venue: Waterbuck Hotel – Nakuru, Central Rift Branch
Date: (Postponed)
Introduction
In order to enforce transparency and accountability, SACCOs in Kenya are exposed to various legal and professional compliance requirements. All the players in this sector must clearly understand the financial reporting requirements according to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) and the regulatory requirements from SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA).
With the convergence of these requirements, the management of SACCOs cannot fail to undergo thorough continuous development and empowerment aimed at sustaining growth while ensuring compliance with the prevailing regulatory obligations.
While the management plays a key role of ensuring compliance, all the players in this sector must also clearly understand the financial reporting requirements as outlined by the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs), and as per the requisite regulatory requirements and prudential guidelines.
To address the salient financial reporting issues affecting this sector ICPAK has organized a two-day workshop to provide the delegates with expert knowledge on the practical challenges affecting SACCOs in Kenya and guidance on compliance with both the regulatory and reporting requirements.
Some of the issues that will be addressed include;
- Cooperatives current reporting status in Kenya and the regulatory Requirements as outlined by SASRA and Ministry of Industrialization & Cooperative Development
- Aligning SACCO Financial Reporting to IFRS Developments with Practical application of the Key IFRSs affecting SACCOs and SASRA prudential guidelines (Financial Management Report)
- Structuring and Implementation of Credit Management Strategies in SACCOs
- Impact of Finance Act 2019 on the Financial Performance of SACCOs in Kenya
