Financial Reporting Workshop
1st -2nd December 2016
Hilton Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya
For the last 16 years, Kenyan entities have prepared their financial statements on the basis of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The dynamic nature of business environments and innovative business models creates a need for standards to evolve, thus necessitating professionals to gain knowledge and experience of these standards. Significant to note for the year 2016 is the Revenue Standard which becomes effective on 1 January 2017.
As the year draws to a close, the Institute has set up this two-day workshop to provide insights in the changes to standards and offer practical guidelines to implementing some of the complex standards. The workshop will also provide feedback on major non-compliance and weaknesses noted during the evaluation of financial statements for the FiRe Award 2016. The course will also provide highlights of how the companies act 2015 affects reporting.
Participants will receive insights on the following:
- Feedback from FiRe Awards 2016
- The Companies Act 2015 and its implications on reporting.
- Ready for the new revenue standard (IFRS 15)? General Interpretations and Application.
- Applying IFRS 9 – Sector specific examples (Banks & Sacco’s, Insurance, Manufacturing/General business etc.). Classification and impairment models.
