THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA

FINANCIAL REPORTING & AUDITING WORKSHOP FOR SACCOS
DATE: 20th – 21st April, 2017
VENUE: Best Western Creekside Hotel, Mombasa
Background
As SACCO business grows in the country, its landscape continues to evolve. SACCOs are continuously expanding with many taking up the operation of Front Office Service Operations (FOSA), which has necessitated more stringent regulation. In addition to compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), today SACCOs are also governed by the Sacco Societies Regulations gazetted in 2010 that mandates SASRA to license and regulate them. Further, SASRA has taken oversight of auditing of SACCOs to ensure compliance.
This dynamic nature of the cooperative societies industry coupled with the country’s shaken financial institutions sector has resulted in numerous developments intended to stabilize the market. These conditions have informed ICPAK’s initiative to organize this year’s edition of the Financial Reporting and Auditing Workshop for SACCOs.
