THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
EVENING TALK
DATE: 16th November 2016
VENUE: Kenya Comfort Hotel, Muindi Mbingu street -Nairobi
TIME: 5.30pm to 7.30pm
Theme: “Discovering and Honing Your Competitive Advantage in a Harsh Global Environment”
When the Canadian media scholar Marshall McLuhan first floated the idea of the Global Village in 1962, he probably even did not know the mind-boggling reality of his statement, more than fifty years ahead. McLuhan spoke of a common global realization that was only beginning to emerge as a result of advance in communications technology.
Today the global village is a reality. It is a ruthlessly competitive village. The name of the new global game is competition. African organizations are worried about being rolled over by both the traditional global business leaders and the emerging economic giants. These developments are having important consequences for the lives of us all.
Both individuals and organizations that will survive in the New World Order will be those offering something unique or, at the very least, offering something in a unique way. They must define themselves through a unique competitive edge, based on clear understanding of the forces transforming the global economic environment.
What then is your personal competitive advantage? What of your organizational competitive edge? Are you aware of it, or does it work for you by default? Who is in competition against you? Do you understand what places you above them, or conversely places them above you? So how do you get to know your competitive advantage and to harness it in the mad rush of emerged global competition and competitiveness? You certainly do not want to just muddle along without understanding that things are changing. You risk becoming irrelevant, anyway.
To address the concerns raised here and many more related to your personal and professional growth, ICPAK has planned an Evening Talk to take place at the Kenya Comfort Hotel, Muindi Mbingu street -Nairobi on 16th November 2016 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm
