ESSENTIAL ISSUES IN AUDIT: A PRACTICAL APPROACH
DATE: 23rd – 24th February, 2017
VENUE: Best Western Creekside Hotel, Mombasa
Theme: Equipping Auditors with Essential Auditing Skills
1.0 Overview
The purpose of an audit is to enhance the degree of confidence of intended users in the financial statements. This is achieved by the expression of an opinion by the auditor on whether the financial statements are prepared in all material respects, in accordance with an applicable financial reporting framework. {ISA 200- Overall Objectives of the Independent Auditor and the Conduct of an Audit in Accordance with International Standards on Auditing}.
Cognizance therefore has to be enhanced on essential issues in auditing i.e. audit planning, execution and audit conclusion. Of equal importance is the reporting process; incorporating preparers, those charged with governance and users of the financial statements.
In the wake of increased audit failures, ICPAK has organized a two-day workshop to address how auditors, preparers and users of financial statements can advance their understanding of the critical issues in auditing. This will be through discussion of well selected topics including regaining public confidence and maintaining public trust by learning the principal activities of the Audit and Assurance.
