Date: 21st – 22nd March, 2019
Venue: Vacani Resort, Voi , Taita Taveta
Brief
Proper Public Finance Management is critical to continued economic development yet it seems to be elusive particularly in Kenya where corruption is rampant. One of the key areas where public finances are misappropriated is procurement where processes are often perverted for personal gain. This is evident from the numerous reported cases raising concern regarding public finance management in Kenya, from blatant fraud to unethical procurement practices.
The Kenya government through its entities has made strides in establishing systems geared to enhance transparency, accountability and responsiveness to public expenditure policy priorities. These include embracing some of the emerging trends in PFM and procurement such as the use of automated procurement systems and e-wallets for payments.
