TIME: 9: 00 am – 3: 30 pm
VENUE: Radisson Blu Hotel, Upper Hill Nairobi
Introduction and Overview
Data analysis involves the procedures of determining the value of data and converting it into useful organized information for decision making. Data mining, statistical analysis, business analytics, descriptive and predictive analysis, and big data analytics are all part of it.
In today’s competitive and dynamic market, firms are under pressure to increase shareholder value. To do this, it is critical that acquired data be processed quickly and that any insights be implemented as soon as possible. It is claimed that data is the new oil, and a lack of this essential focus on data analytics may be more costly as game-changing insights may be missed, resulting in unpleasant opportunity costs. Data analysis enables better decision-making.
Any serious organization hoping to survive the constantly changing commercial and operational settings must then proceed and equip itself with suitable data tools and skills. This course will attempt to shed light on both, putting power in the hands of any business model that is open to the data story.
A keen focus on data and its analytics has brought to the fore data privacy as a key area of concern. Organizations are currently battling lawsuits by data subjects who feel their privacy has been violated through unauthorized access and sharing of their information. This has been strengthened by coming into force of the Data Privacy Act. It is therefore imperative for organizations to understand the Act, map out potential risks and institute plans for mitigating against the same.
Effective report writing is fundamental in aiding teams and organizations to arrive at key decisions backed with the much needed information. Easy as it may seem, many professionals struggle with this aspect which eventually hinders the way they communicate in the organization. The workshop will delve into fundamentals of report writing and how professionals can hone their skills in producing quality reports. The following areas will be covered:
- Data Analysis: Introduction to Data Analysis, Big Data, Data Types, Data Collection Methods
- Big Data Analytics: Tools, Techniques and Approaches to Efficient Data Management.
- Data Summarization – Introduction to Pivot Tables, Automating Reports, Report Comprehension and Smart Presentation
- Data Visualization and Reporting – Using Conditional Formatting; Charting types and use cases; Single Cell Sparklines
