INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(Established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
BOARD TRAINING
Theme: Governance with Virtual Oversight
Venue: Zoom
Date: Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th July 2020
OVERVIEW
The ethical space and philosophy of every organization starts with the board. From its composition to its effectiveness, the board sets the tone for how decisions are made and how intrinsic people values are accepted. Despite this critical relationship, building and governing a balanced and effective board is usually not a walk in the park. Board dynamics can be complex, and often boil down to trust – trust that empowers the leadership team to set and achieve the organization’s strategy.
Enter Covid 19 pandemic and the governance landscape has been twisted. Some very significant forces are reshaping the regulatory and boardroom agendas. To some boards, the reactive approach to strategic concerns has been employed. The challenge however is; how can boards take a proactive approach to governance? The current global crisis has once again underscored the need for organizations to look at how they approach matters of governance and compliance. Boards have limited choice but to re-align; re-align to global and national interests.
Led by experts in your field, this two-day virtual program is designed to offer an in-depth and interactive learning experience. The program targets board members (public and private companies) and will cover the following broad areas:
- Proactive approaches to governance – a focus on regulation and compliance in the face of COVID 19.
- Change Management – an effective tool towards recovery
- Virtual over-sighting responsibilities in unprecedented times – the dos and don’ts.
- Business continuity planning – assessing the feasibility of the firm you represent
