OVERVIEW
The audit practice continues to face challenges arising from either the expectation gap or the perception about quality of audit work. The responsibility for performing quality audits of financial statements rests with auditors. Considering the fact that Covid 19 has impacted audit procedures, audit quality can be achieved in an environment where there is support from, and appropriate interactions among participants in the financial reporting supply chain. A quality assurance audit is a documented, systematic process, performed in a planned manner by competent independent personnel with the objective of evaluating the application by an organization to the principles and requirements of defined quality regulations and customer. The institute introduced the Audit Quality Assurance Review monitoring programme with the main objective of carrying out audit quality reviews to allow a view to be formed on the quality of audit work carried out by firms and help firms identify and design appropriate remedial actions where necessary.
In light of the above, the Institute has organized an Audit Quality Assurance workshop to promote awareness and understanding of the ISAs and the IAASB newly released series of ISA modules. These modules cover ISAs that address materiality in planning and performing an audit of financial statements, the evaluation of identified misstatements, written representations, using the work of an auditor’s expert and auditor reporting.
The workshop will cover the following topical areas.
International Standards on Assurance Engagements (ISAEs)
Impact of Covid 19 on the Audit Process
ISA 540 –Auditing Accounting estimates
Audit Documentations and Evidence
