The Kenya Revenue Authority has over the recent past fully embraced technology, a strategy that has enhanced quality of taxpayer services as well as optimized revenue collection within set timelines and budgets. Taxpayers have been empowered to declare tax payable by themselves at the comfort of their homes and offices. Professionals and businesspeople in the country now have to constantly be appraised on the tax matters to keep their businesses in good books. Notably, with the need for a continuous consideration of user friendliness in systems upgrade, small and medium taxpayers avoid being listed on KRA’s radar even though hiccups and challenges still exist.
It is against this backdrop that ICPAK will host a two-hour KRA engagement forum with seasoned experts to respond to questions on issues encountered on KRA portal system on a day to day basis. Questions will be tailored against the following thematic areas:
- iTax Enhancements and emerging issues
- Online application of withholding VAT Credits Refund
- Tax Compliance issues: Timelines, Penalties and issuance of TCC
- Setting-off Current Taxable Income against Losses b/f from previous periods
- Enhanced validations for payments being declared in a return
- Generation of missing VAT Withholding Certificates for some IFMIS Reconciled PRNs
- Reduction of Withholding VAT rate to 2%
- Migration of Legacy balances to iTax
- Tax arrears/balance
- VAT Auto-Assessment (VAA), issues
- Over declaration of input taxes
- Under declaration of sales/output tax
- Missing traders
- Updates on Tax Procedures (Tax Agents Regulations)
- Stamp duty and Capital Gains Tax
Target
The forums target all tax professionals, All ICPAK Members and Non-Members, accountants in private and public sectors, accountants in business setups, Young professionals, Practicing Members, Accountants in Academia and those serving public interest entities, participants from other reciprocating professional organizations, suppliers of vatable products and members of the public keen on emerging issues.

CPD Units

National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Reimbursement for Kenyan Delegates
The Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority. The Institute’s registration number is DIT/TRN/47. Kenyan participants who are registered levy contributors should apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. Please note that this is applicable for Kenyans.
