THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA

(established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)

 THE ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT SEMINAR

Theme: Exploiting Opportunities Amidst the Disruption

Venue: Travelers Beach Hotel & Club,  Mombasa

Date: 11th to 13th September 2019

Overview

Globalization and liberalization of economies has brought in a myriad of hazards that organizations have to contend with. With ERM, we look at both the strategic and operational risks. This is the approach that emphasizes on the adoption of risk management practices throughout the organisation.

While each company faces specific concerns, the more challenging ERM subjects are generally consistent across companies and are largely unrelated to industry, geography, regulation or competitive landscapes. Most companies have an understanding of the risks they may be susceptible to but may not have an effective tried, tested and resourced plan in place. Implementation of ERM requires a rare combination of consensus, board support and an appreciation of various sensitive programs. Technological and demographic, among other changes, have added layers of complexity to the types of risk companies face and the speed at which those risks can arise.

In view of the above, this program has been outlined to discuss the following thematic areas.

Key Topics

  1. Economic Risks & Accounting Standards – Risk Reporting
  2. Risk Governance and Compensation (risk shifting) – Executive Compensation and Incentives
  3. Third-Party Risk Management
  4. Big Data – Technology & Vulnerability Management
  5. Developing a People-Centric Cybersecurity Strategy
  6. Data Protection Regulation (Legislation, ISO Standards and COSO 2018) – An Indepth Review
  7. Business Continuity /Disaster Recovery Plans – A Case for Physical Security
  8. Hedging Enterprise Risk and Corporate Values
  9. Organizational Culture – The Changing Risk Profile with the Z Generation Workforce.
