THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
Annual Practical Ethics Training
DATE: 19th May 2017
VENUE: Nairobi Safari Club, Lilian Towers
TIME: 8am to 5pm
As with other professional disciplines, understanding and upholding ethics is very important in the accounting field. Business investors and leaders consistently rely on the ethical collection and delivery of financial information, and are sometimes placed at risk if accounting ethics are not preserved. According to Albert Schweitzer “Ethics is the activity of man directed to secure the inner perfection of his own personality.” By working within the parameters of an ethical paradigm, only then are organizations able to achieve professionalism plus avoid legal and financial troubles. An accepted ethical standard will have a far-reaching influence on business interactions, especially in this current era of instant information dissemination. It is now important for organizations and personnel to maintain and communicate clear ethical standards. According to Robert Noyce, “If ethics is poor at the top, that behavior is copied down through the organization.” Investors & creditors are currently exposed to the risk of fraud where accounting ethics and integrity standards have not been upheld, thereby undermining trust in the larger business markets. It is in this backdrop that ICPAK has organised this training to deal with ethical challenges. Delegates will get help in identifying gaps at their workplaces, develop solutions that sustain a culture of integrity and trust to experience the rewards of a values-driven workplace:
