Overview of the workshop
This training course is aimed at audit committee members who are new to the role as well as those who have been serving for a while. The trainers will guide delegates through the essentials, helping them to make a valuable contribution to their committee. The workshop will be a refresher on reporting requirements and legal obligations of the above target audience and also provide guidance on compliance. To discharge their responsibilities effectively, audit committee members must understand the requirements of their enhanced role and then deliver and report on them.
The workshop will address the following topics:
- Establishment, Composition and functions of Audit Committees (Public Sector vis-à-vis the Private Sector Experience).
- Building blocks for an effective Internal Audit function.
- Value adding Audit Committee Reports and Reporting.
- Understanding the Role of Audit Committee in Governance Risk and Compliance.
- Auditing the Auditor and Audit committee for effectiveness.
- The Paradox of dual reporting and Internal Auditor’s Independence.
At the end of the workshop covered, participants should be able to:

5.0 National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Reimbursement
The Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority. The Institute’s registration number is DIT/TRN/47. Participants who are registered levy contributors should apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. Please note that this is applicable for Kenyan citizens only and subject to NITA regulations.
