THE ANNUAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE FOR NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
22nd – 24th NOVEMBER 2017
Sarova Whitesands Beach Hotel and Spa, MOMBASA
Theme: Reinvigorating Public Interest in NPOs Sector
The NPOs sector comprising Political Parties, Unions, Foundations, Trusts, NGOs, Youth Groups, Women Groups and other self-help groups form a key component of organizations that provide services or play in the human rights sphere on a model that does not seek to maximize wealth to the owners. The NPOs receive funding either from donors and in some instances from the government and all these are to be applied in public interest and furthering common good. The role of financial management in providing a statement of accountability to various stakeholders is prime in informing the debate as to whether NPOs generate and sustain public interest. Arising from this increasing significance of the NPOs, government has stepped up the registration and compliance requirements in the sector. However, regulation and support must act in tandem, because focusing solely on compliance and regulation without providing the necessary support would result in the alienation of a large part Kenya’s nonprofit sector, particularly smaller NGOs.
It is in line with this significance that the Institute has organized the Financial Management Conference for the NPOs Sector to focus on the following;
- Developments in Financial Management in the NPOs Sector
- Developments in Regulation among NPOs
- Common Trends in Audit of NPOs
- Tax Matters among NPOs
- Fundraising & Strategy Execution
- Running a Trust/ Foundation – A case study
- Cash Flow Management Amidst Reduced Donor Funding
- Politics and the NPO Sector: Drawing the Line
- Risk Management and Accountability in the NPO Sector
- Mentoring the Next Generation of Leaders
