DATE: 17TH – 21ST JUNE 2024
VENUE: PRIDE INN PARADISE BEACH HOTEL, MOMBASA
Time: 09:00am-0330pm
Overview
Reduced public confidence, increased government scrutiny, uncertainty in gaining donor support and the need to address new regulatory and operational issues are among the challenges facing NPOs in Kenya today. The situation is compounded further with the surge in humanitarian causes that need urgent intervention amidst scarce resources. Fraudsters have not spared the NPO space either, with incidences of donor funds misappropriation or shoddy work on allocated projects. This behooves those charged with the responsibility of financial management to account for every shilling spent and demonstrate value for it. Otherwise, organizations risk reduced/ complete withdrawal of donor funding to the detriment of its programmes and course.
Developments in the taxation landscape affecting NPOs, global shift towards sustainability practices and reporting, rapid advancement of technology and an urgent need to give emphasis on data analytics for informed decision making continues to keep this sector on its toes. ICPAK has organized this year’s conference themed Reinvigorating Public Interest in the NPOs Sector to address these challenges with a view to forging and voicing a common solution. The conference will focus on the following:
- Details of the Recent Exposure Draft & Way Forward for IFR4NPO for East Africa
- The Role of the NGOs Coordination Board in Supporting the NPO Sector
- Sustainability Reporting and NPOs – Tapping into the New Frontier
- Effective Budgeting – Aligning Resources to the Mission
- Fundraising & Strategy Execution – Looking Beyond Traditional Donors
- Current Developments in Taxation Landscape affecting NPOs & Compliance Strategies
- Case Study: Combating Fraud in the NPO Sector
