OVERVIEW
A report is a document written for a particular purpose and audience, usually short, and to the point. Its general purpose is to set out and analyses a situation or a problem and makes recommendations for future action. A report is a factual paper, needs to be clear and well structured.
Essentials for the detailed form and content of a report will vary between organization and departments. In area of study it varies between courses, from tutor to tutor and between subjects, therefore its worth finding out if there any specific guidelines before commencing to write the report.
A report must be well researched and contain information, in case the findings are not what is expected, the writer must discuss and analyze the differences in the report. Data or the findings must never be distorted or influenced to fit the data to match with original thought. A report should be objective and accurate.
What do numbers tell us? Let’s dig in the data. Can we analyze this in real time? These and many others are expressions used by accountants. But why is this important? And what does it have to do with accounting? Accountants use data analytics to help businesses uncover valuable insights within their financials, identify process improvements that can increase efficiency and better manage risk. A strong facility with data analytics gives accountants a toolset to help strengthen their partnership with business leaders, adding value to decision making.
