OVERVIEW

CEOs are responsible for ensuring that their organization’s systems are congruent with the culture they are trying to foster. They are also charged with the responsibility of ensuring optimal strategic planning and business model re-engineering processes are carried out even in turbulent times and thus it is very important for them to deeply understand how to navigate the risk -return hurdle when undertaking critical business decisions and how to set smart targets and ensure their accomplishment.

Executive leadership is cultural leadership. CEOs have a responsibility to shape and reinforce the organization’s culture to ensure the business thrives in a dynamic marketplace. In line with this, it is important that they pay attention to articulating and embedding values that promote the adaptation and flexibility while realizing that they cannot do it by themselves and thus the need to recruit, hire and grow the right talent. CEOs play a key role in the alignment of systems and procedures to reflect the company’s values and take advantage of talented employees.

The East African CEO’s roundtable will provide a platform for CEOs to share key lessons regarding the key strategic priorities for businesses in the region. The forum discussants will share experiences in managing intergenerational workforces, streamlining internal controls systems and implementation of digital transformation and sustainability practices within their organizations. The round table has been designed to provide an opportunity for CEOs to share experiences and ideas on the various dilemmas and opportunities as presented above.
