OVERVIEW
Over the Covid-19 period, the government has faced the reality that tax revenue plays a big role in financing development and day-to-day government expenditure. This necessitated implementation of various measures through amendments to the Finance Act 2020. These changes aimed at stimulating various economic activities in various sectors of the economy, benefit targeted groups or class of taxpayers, venture into new revenue collection sources and close in loopholes therefore directly increase revenue collection. These constant changes in the tax systems have brought about demand for more understanding and interpretation by professionals in their day-to-day practice.
This therefore gives professionals the responsibility of being sufficiently conversant with the constant regulatory changes in order to bring their clients or stakeholder on board and ensure compliance. It is against this background that the Institute has organized this webinar in conjunction with the state tax administrator Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to have an in-depth discussion on key matters affecting professionals in matters taxation in line with the implementation of the tax laws which took effect on 1st January 2021.
