OVERVIEW
The need for high-quality, accurate, and reliable financial reports continues to be of great relevance even during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. ICPAK aims to improve the quality of general-purpose financial reporting by organizations across all sectors of the economy to ensure that there is better informed assessments of resource allocation and utilization decisions, thereby enhancing transparency and accountability.
The two-day training seminar has been carefully tailored to meet the financial reporting requirements in view of the recent and current developments under the COVID-19 pandemic environment, and the emerging developments in reporting under the full IFRSs, the IFRS for SMEs and related disclosures. This interactive financial reporting training will give the participants an opportunity to learn some of the latest development in financial reporting and get details on the new reporting standards under the different financial reporting frameworks.
Additionally, the course will explore the impact of COVID-19 on financial reporting and treatment of various accounting and financial transactions.
Active virtual participation by all participants through a combination of different approaches will be included. This will entail direct instruction, analysis and evaluation of practical case studies, examples, and exercises to illustrate application of the standards as well as current and future developments.
The sessions will also capture a review of status of implementation of the IFRS 9 financial instruments standard, which our specialist facilitators will provide guidance on some of the critical aspects of its application under an environment of concessions and banking industry reliefs.
The Virtual Financial Reporting Seminar will focus on the following areas:
i. IFRS 9 – Financial Instruments
ii. IFRS 16 – Leases
iii. IFRS for SMEs; a comparative analysis with Full IFRS
iv. IAS 37 – Provisions, Contingent Liabilities and Contingent Assets
v. IFRS 15 – Revenues from Contracts with Customers
vi. IFRS 7 and other financial reporting disclosure requirements under a pandemic environment
