OVERVIEW
IFRS 16 Leases is a standard which came into effect on 1st January 2019, replacing IAS 17 Leases. Among the changes introduced by the new standard is the Right-of-Use Asset recognition and the criteria for assessing if a contract contains a lease or lease element.
Due to recent developments, all sectors of the economy have had to grapple with the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic regarding the appropriate accounting treatment of leases, impact on financial reporting and resultant disclosures requirements on the same.
To help address the questions around the end of year closure considerations in view of the impact of the pandemic and other emerging developments related to IFRS 16, the Institute has organized a Webinar to address this critical topic as the reporting cycle draws closer to the end.
To guide the discussion during the Webinar, the following areas will form the focus of this very important virtual event.
- Impact of COVID-19 on IFRS 16 Leases
- Accounting for lease modifications
