Context for the training
In the recent past, we have seen an increased number of tax disputes resulting from tax audits. These may be as a result of the following:
- Governments are under significant pressure to raise revenues internally from an already stretched tax base. This has increased the number of tax audits and litigation and an aggressive reaction towards ‘perceived tax loopholes’ in the Tax Legislations by Tax Authorities.
- tax payers on the other hand are experiencing increasingly complex tax legislations, penalties for non- compliance and stringent requirements for disclosure resulting in decreased profitability, increased restructures and closure of companies.
In light of the above Alpha Tax and Business Advisory Services will in the month of July 2020, hold a Tax Dispute Resolution Workshop. It will be a 4 hours virtual session split into 2 classes. We will run a technical session in the first class and a panel discussion session in the second class. Our panellists below have a wealth of experience in the field of Tax Dispute Resolution.
- Rispah Simiyu: Deputy Commissioner, Alternative Dispute Resolution
- Nazima Malik: Partner, Kaplan & Stratton Advocates
- Moses Obonyo: Former Chair, Tax Appeal Tribunal
