THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
WEBINAR
Theme: Forensic Audit – Dealing with Contract and Procurement Fraud
Date: 28th July 2020
Time: 16:00 – 17:00 Hours
Overview
Contract and procurement fraud are proving to be among the most rampant in Kenya, with many public and private sector organizations attributing major losses to these schemes. The first step to deterring procurement and contract fraud is identifying risks to enable setting up measures to combat it. The unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic coupled with numerous leaps made in technology and its use in organizational processes present new loopholes that fraudsters can use to perpetrate fraud.
Unfortunately, contract and procurement fraud are often difficult to detect and complex to investigate. This is because contract and procurement fraud take on various forms which are possible at different stages of organizational processes. They also tend to happen over long stretches of time, further making detection difficult. These schemes include bribery and corruption, bid rigging, billing fraud and performance delivery fraud.
