1.0 Overview:
The need for high-quality and reliable financial reports cannot be over-emphasized. Financial reporting is still subject to many changes. These affect regulations and annual reports and other publications. This year the workshop deals with important issues such as: communication through the financial statements, accounting standards, intangibles, integrated reporting, and auditing.
This workshop brings together a series of high-profile speakers to discuss these developments and their effect on the future of financial reporting. The workshop provides a forum for both practitioners and academics to hear and engage in the debate with the following well-informed speakers.
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to have a good working knowledge of the specific IFRS standards handled so as to know which principles are relevant and important to their specific organization, ministry, department or agency. Audit practitioners will also benefit immensely enriching their knowledge on the specific areas of IFRSs and IPSAs among other reporting procedures and issues. Further the training affords an opportunity for networking and peer engagement.
In addition, active participation by all participants through a combination different approaches will be included. This will entail direct instruction, analysis and evaluation of practical case studies, examples and exercises to illustrate application of the standards as well as current and future developments.
The two-day sessions will also capture a review of current status of IPSAS adoption, which our specialist facilitators will provide guidance on the roadmap to transitioning to the accrual basis.
The Financial Reporting Workshop will focus on the following areas:

- Financial Reporting best practice: A focus on shortcomings in financial statements disclosures and reporting.

- Statutory Audit Procedures on Expected Credit Loss Provisioning Under IFRS 9
- IFRS 14 – Regulatory Deferral Accounts

6.0 National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Reimbursement
The Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority. The Institute’s registration number is DIT/TRN/47. Participants who are registered levy contributors should apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. Please note that this is applicable for Kenyan citizens only and subject to NITA regulations.
