THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(Established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
Practitioners and Firms Growth Forum – Mombasa
Date: 18th – 19th July, 2019
Venue: Hotel Sapphire, Mombasa
Brief
Audit practitioners are central to the achievement of financial oversight role of all organizations. Practitioners however, operate in a largely dynamic environment that necessitates continuous transformation and adaptation to the changing times. For instance, IESBA’s (International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants) international code of ethics exposure draft requires firms and other oversight bodies to implement its provisions. This revision includes major changes to the conceptual framework employed in the identification, evaluation and addressing of threats to compliance with the fundamental principles. More specific to practitioners, IESBA’s exposure draft introduces stronger independence provisions for longstanding association of personnel with audit clients.
Further, proposed revisions to quality management standards are set to increase efforts towards ensuring quality engagements and may even affect firm’s operations. ISQM1 and ISQM2 formerly ISQC1 for example, deals with a firm’s responsibility to establish a system of quality management to ensure quality engagements and addressing engagement quality reviews respectively. ISA 220 deals with the specific responsibilities of the auditor regarding quality control procedures for an audit of financial statements.
The Practitioners Growth Forum provides a platform for audit practitioners and to other professionals to review these changes and prepare adequately to embed them in their practice. The forum will also provide delegates a walk-through of the ICPAK Audit software, the firm management guide and the newly launched ICPAK Members’ handbook.
