THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(Established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
PFM and Tax Seminar
Date: Tuesday 26th – Thursday 28th March 2019
Venue: Palm Oasis Hotel (Formerly Almond Hotel) – Garissa
Introduction
A quick survey of the Kenyan populace would quickly reveal the passion held for proper public finance management, a situation that has merged following years of suffering the implications of poor PFM practices by leaders. There is no shortage of concern regarding Public Finance Management in Kenya, from blatant embezzlement to the rising levels of public debt. The Kenya government through its entities has made strides in establishing systems geared to enhance transparency, accountability and responsiveness to public expenditure policy priorities.
With the signing of the Finance Act 2018 into law, the government has also enacted changes in the country’s tax regime in an attempt to streamline collection of revenues while endowing public coffers. Some of the changes include advances on iTax, amendments to the Tax Procedures Act and the introduction of the National Housing Development Fund levy.
This seminar aims to improve the quality of general purpose financial reporting by public sector entities as well as inform professionals on the recent modifications in tax laws. Specific areas of focus include:
