THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(Established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
Public Finance Management Seminar
Date: 9th – 10th August, 2018
Venue: Mountain Breeze Hotel, Embu – Mt. Kenya Branch
Brief
Section 8 of the Accountants Act 2008 mandates the Institute to among other responsibilities advise the Cabinet Secretary on financial accountability. Recently, there have been numerous reports in the public domain on mismanagement of public resources. These have led to efforts by the government, professional bodies and stakeholder to developed mitigation measures and safeguard public interest such as the directive for lifestyle audits and stepping aside of Heads of Finance and Procurement in public entities.
The above efforts complement previous attempts to reform Kenya’s public finance management systems. The big question is are these initiatives working? In a bid to equip professionals and the public with knowledge towards improving the Public Finance Management, ICPAK has structured this year’s seminar to cover the following pertinent subjects:
- Budget 2018: Focus on the Big 4 Agenda
- Enhancing Accountability in the Public sector: Lifestyle audits & professional ethics
- Effective Public participation in PFM
- IFMIS- an enabler or inhibitor
- Budget monitoring and reporting –the missed steps
