Forensic Audit Seminar – Central Rift Branch
Date: 4th – 5th September, 2018
Venue: Waterbuck Hotel, Nakuru
Brief
The need for forensic audit is increasingly becoming evident in Kenya with the revelations of far reaching financial scandals and corruption, which have resulted in the crippling of organizations and loss of public funds. More often than not, such cases go unresolved and perpetrators unpunished due to inadequate forensic investigation processes among other challenges.
Forensic Accounting involves the application of accounting, financial analysis and other investigative skills on for use in legal proceedings. Forensic Auditors therefore need to be knowledgeable on several technical areas including criminology, accounting, investigation, as well as legal elements.
Today, rapidly evolving technology continues to reshape the field of forensic audit. Modern business models have led to increased exposure to fraudulent schemes that employ the power of technology. As such, todays forensic investigators need to be up to date with fraud risks that are related to developments in technology.
The role of a forensic investigator does not end at the reporting stage. Forensic investigators must be able to present their work in a legal process. Therefore, they not only need to understand the accounting aspects but also must demonstrate additional investigation skills such as interviewing skills.
As the field of Forensic Audit grows both in recognition and complexity, ICPAK aims to improve awareness and equip members with the requisite skills to deal with the emerging fraud risks related to technology.
To this end, a two-day workshop has been organized to cover topics such as:
- Emerging Trends and Controls – Cybercrime, Crypto Currency
- Big Data Analytics in Forensic Audit – approaches and tools
- Soft Skills Necessary for Forensic Audit – How to conduct effective Interviews
- Litigation Support – Analysis and Presentation of Findings for Court Cases
