THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(Established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
THE 11th MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING CONFERENCE
Theme: Stepping Outside the Box; Elevating the Management Accountant
Venue: Travellers Beach Hotel and Club, Mombasa
Date: 25th – 27th July, 2018
1.0 Overview
Survey results from Deloitte’s Center for Controllership points that most management accountants spend nearly 70% of their time on traditional steward and operator roles, yet they would wish to allocate more time to catalyst and strategist responsibilities. Today’s VUCA world demands that this role delivers accurate and relevant information when and how it is needed.
Indeed, the management accounting landscape has evolved significantly over the years from the ‘bean counting’ stereotype to a dynamic yet crucial business unit, similar to the wider management discipline. It should be seen that this role is no longer detached from marketing and business development as it is expected to contribute to an organization’s competitive advantage. This feat can be accomplished by coupling accounting skills with business analytics and big data to efficiently compete in the market.
At the 11th Annual Management Accounting Conference, we shall among other topical issues, review the management accounting competence framework in view of current corporate environmental disruptions and recommend possible improvements. Topics will include non-security related technology issues such as enterprise performance management, big data and the internet of things, automation, data governance, risk management among others. Be sure to be at the forefront of these discussions.
