THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
Audit Quality Assurance Workshop
Date: 9th – 10th August 2018
Venue: Hilton Hotel, Nairobi
Overview
In recent years, audit practitioners, standard setters and regulators have taken significant steps to enhance confidence in the quality of financial statement audits; particularly in light of problems encountered in major capital markets. Recent initiatives have been international in scope to the extent that there have been perceived audit failures that have involved businesses with operations and financial statement users in many countries.
Initiatives have therefore sought to promote consistency across countries in terms of what auditors should do and what financial statement users should expect from audit. Some of those developments include: Strengthening and more widespread adoption of International Standards on Quality Control (ISQCs) by auditors and International Standards on Auditing (ISAs)
The Institute recognizes the importance of such initiatives in promoting audit quality assurance. This workshop is aimed at reminding members of their primary objective to establish an environment that promotes quality audits while also ensuring that they remain competent to address changes in the environment which requires dynamism when auditing. It is also expected that the course will discuss the need for a convergence between stakeholders to influence quality of audits and shall include the role of ICPAK in ensuring compliance through quality reviews.
With a focus on quality assurance on audit, ICPAK has developed this 2-day workshop to tackle:
- Audit Planning and Risk Assessment – A practical approach
- ISQC 1: A practical Approach
- Documentation and audit evidence- as required by ISAs
- Reporting – The new Auditors report (ISA 701)
- ISO Approach; practical approach & case studies
- Emerging issues on Ethics, Audit Risk and Reporting
