THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA
(Established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)
Accountants Professional Ethics Forum – Mombasa
Date: 8th – 9th March, 2018
Venue: PrideInn Express Hotel, Nyali, Mombasa
Accountants play a sensitive role in organizations, being privy to intimate financial information and having the ability to access and manipulate financial resources. By virtue of this therefore, they ought to possess high ethical standards such as absolute integrity, objectivity and confidentiality. It is in line with this that professional and regulatory bodies go to great lengths to provide guidelines on professional behaviour.
Unfortunately, there is minimal evidence of ethical standards and guidelines having made significant impact on the outcomes of businesses. Many of the recent corporate failures witnessed in Kenya and the region can be traced back to the consistent unethical conduct of professionals. Further, corruption and other social evils have permeated professional culture, constantly presenting accountants with tough decisions.
This year’s Accountants Professional Ethics Forum will congregate accountants with the objective of ensuring appreciation and embracing of the principle values of ethics in the accounting profession. Subthemes will cover:
- Ethical Dilemmas in the Profession
- Applications of Professional Scepticism
- Code of Ethics and ICPAK By-Laws
- Case Studies
Target Audience
Accountants, Auditors, Associate members, Practicing members, Academia, Financial Reporting Consultants
