The field of forensic audit involves investigation of an entity’s financial statements usually with the goal of revealing fraudulent activity and the possibility of presenting evidence in a court of law. As the field continues to grow, forensic accountants are increasingly getting involved in investigations to aid in resolving monetary disputes and in the closure of businesses, both of which occur with higher frequency in the today’s economy.
Over the last few years, the number of fraud cases has risen dramatically with an estimated 2% – 5% of turnover being lost to fraud annually. Additionally, the encroachment of corruption within institutions inevitably gives rise to fraud. The East African community is also grappling with cyber fraud, a new form of crime that capitalizes on technology, with Kenya listed as the most affected country.
ICPAK has organized the Forensic Audit Practical Skills Workshop to equip accountants, management, businessmen and other professionals with skills to detect, prevent and mitigate fraud within entities. Having attended this workshop, delegates will leave armed with knowledge on:
